The Amrita Global Alumni Network (AGAN) is the formal Amrita alumni association and is all set to welcome Amritians (Amrita's alumni) on board to engage with their alma mater. AGAN will have national and international chapters in several key locations worldwide.
Amritians can register themselves in their local alumni chapters and be in touch with other alumni in the region!
AGAN is a great way for Amritians to reconnect, refresh and give back to their university! Big or small, every contribution through alumni engagement is invaluable to us!
As a part of AGAN, we have officially set up an Alumni Cell at the University which has a network of Coordinators, both department-wise and campus-wise. We do not want to miss a single opportunity that can engage our alumni and the Alumni Cell will strive to do its best to implement alumni engagement activities across the University. We have also launched our annual AGAN newsletter in 2020.
Several engagement programs have been developed through which Amritians can directly contribute towards students welfare and progress at Amrita.
Being an Amritian, you will surely appreciate the fact that Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham might be the only university in the world, where the Chancellor of the university is available and approachable to ALL! That is because our Chancellor, beloved AMMA reaches out to her children in every possible way and offers them a value-based education where they learn to develop a culture of the heart along with technical knowledge.
Reiterating our Chancellor’s words here:
“There are two types of education: education for a living and education for life. When we study in college, striving to become a doctor, a lawyer, or an engineer, that is education for a living. But education for life requires an understanding of the essential principles of spirituality; it is about gaining a deeper understanding of the world, our minds, our emotions, and ourselves. Work fearlessly- that alone will bring success. This road ahead will reveal itself. Courage should guide us, not fear. Then, boldness, intelligence and talent will shine forth of their own accord.”
-- Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, Amma

How can we forget our young alumni?
While you are venturing new opportunities, we know you could be facing numerous challenges financially, academically and emotionally. Here is something we would like to offer our young alumni, out there.
For our young alumni and alumni pursuing their PhD abroad:
Talk to us, to find out more!
We welcome all our dear Amritians to engage with their alma and the University through several alumni engagement programs. We encourage you to sign up with us and contribute in whichever way possible at your convenience.
We have developed a few programs through which you can engage with Amrita students to help them with better academic progress.
It is an overwhelming experience for any alumni to revisit their own campus and moreover a moment of pride to engage and interact with the current students. The students always look up to opportunities for their growth and progress and as alumni you can make a lasting impression on them with your expertise!
Here are some of the talks that happened at Amrita in 2019.
Not interested in doing a formal presentation, instead, are you more of a practical person?
That's great news for us as you can help us give hands-on technical experience to Amrita students through your speciality workshop!
Get in touch with us if you can conduct a technical workshop at Amrita!
We have introduced the concept of fractal courses, where you can teach the current Amrita students with flexibility.
You can offer a one credit course, either online or in person at the campus of your choice, which will be made available to the students at the other campuses through A-View.
Each one credit course requires 15 hours of teaching per semester. You can cover the 15 hours of teaching based on your convenience.
There are two ways you can offer through this program:
Tap the counselling potential in you through our mentorship programs. If you are interested in becoming a Mentor, get in touch with us. We will feature your profile on this page a student (UG/PG/PhD) wanting to be mentored by you can get in touch with us for more details.
You can also support us with career guiding sessions and other training programs that we conduct to help our students develop their soft and technical skills.
Needless to say, there are numerous conferences taking place at Amrita, both national and international. We will be delighted to have you chair or co-chair a conference at Amrita based on your expertise and experience. Stay tuned to receive such opportunities through our Newsletter or look in the Upcoming Events section.
There is always something more we can do to enhance both, learning and teaching experience at Amrita. Being our alumni, you can be one of the significant contributors towards this activity. Many of you would have had academic, research and/or job experience, both nationally and internationally. Let us think together about the ways in which we can utilize your suggestions and make Amrita reach greater heights.
Every year, there are numerous programs being launched at Amrita by the Centre for International Programs. We are collaborating and partnering with many international universities to offer academic experiences abroad. We bring different types of student opportunities, both short-term and long-term programs. Short-term programs range from one month upto one semester abroad that include summer programs, industry-based academic internships, and exchange programs. Long-term programs include Dual degree programs (PG programs) and Integrated programs. Despite having high calibre, some students are unable to afford these opportunities due to their financial background. You can sponsor a well-deserving student partially (bear only travel/living expenses) or fully and help them achieve better career prospects through these opportunities.
There is no end to collaborative thinking and pursuing long-term relationships based on these collaborations. All the top international universities are expanding their horizons and exploring global opportunities. You may be collaborating with us yourself or introducing us to your contacts for a potential collaboration. Either ways, there is a lot we can do if we work together. Being our alumni, we look forward to collaborating with you through several ways:
You may or may not be a PhD holder, but your knowledge, time and expertise is of great value to us. Spend one hour a week to help our PhD students or Master’s students to publish a paper in a scopus-indexed journal. Help them unveil, explore and learn with more fun and freedom (oops, that was meant to be a silent word) and co-author the paper. If you are interested in this, do get in touch with us!
Let us create a greater impact! We are very sure that some of you would have reached greater heights in your careers as Administrators, Policy-makers, NGO-founders or other positions that will enable you to recommend or introduce us to contacts who can collaborate with us by writing joint proposals for grants and funds.
There are two ways of going about this:
Get in touch with us to know more!
There is no doubt that many of you are walking the path of excellence in your careers. Some of you may be global leaders and game-changers in the corporate world. Why not leverage your position to help our students get benefitted?
Here are some ways to get involved:
Here is something every alum could aspire for! We are launching the Alumni Ambassador Program, where you play an active role in marketing Amrita abroad and bringing more students and people to collaborate with us.
We are looking to pursue the following activities:
Check out one of our Alumni Ambassadors, Dr. Raja Sundar, a Postdoc Researcher at EPFL, Switzerland who shares his experience about representing Amrita at Grenoble to bring their students under our flagship academic program, Live-in-Labs®
Get in touch, to know more.
Spend some time nourishing your soul and spirit by volunteering at an MA Center near you. Participate in your local Ayudh chapters and annual summits. We will update you soon about our Alumni-Ayudh champions and inspire you with the impact they have created!
