“Environment is a complex set of physical, geographical, biological, social, cultural and political conditions that surrounds an individual or organism and ultimately determines its form and nature of survival.”

The mission of the centre is to develop technologies which are environment friendly, economically sound, socially acceptable, politically viable and community need based for sustainable development and to create awareness among the people regarding equitable use of natural resources and conserving and nurturing biological diversity, gene pool and other resources for long term food and health security. The environmental activities came into effect when Amrita Institute of Technology was established in 1995.
