About

Center for Excellence in Computational Engineering (CEN) and Networking of Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore came to life on May 17th 2003. CEN foresaw the importance of computational science and started the journey with the main focus on Data Mining and Machine learning. The centre not only implies the conventional computer networking, but also integrates all aspects of IoT’s and social networking. The strong motivation for the inception of CEN in 2003 is the fall in price of computing over years and the data abundance due to sensor networks. What initially began as a small group of people focused on research gradually blossomed into a strong center that apart from offering postgraduate program, also began taking up challenging projects from various institutions like ISRO, BARC, DRDO and IT Ministry of India.

CEN believes that solving state of the art problems require a highly multidisciplinary background. At CEN, the faculties encourage the scholars to be “thinkers, tinkerers and makers’, so that they can tune their research to the needs of the society. This not only provides a real-life scenario for the research scholars, but it also keeps them up to date with the current research problems and methodologies.
