About

This Fellowship program provides a comprehensive understanding of adult and pediatric gastrointestinal, pancreatic, and hepatobiliary pathology, enabling participants to competently manage issues encountered in routine and specialty/referral practice. The fellowship can also be considered as part of Senior Residency, where applicable.

Program Objectives

The objectives are summarised below:

  • To increase knowledge and experience in neoplastic and non-neoplastic diseases affecting the gastrointestinal tract, pancreas, and liver in both adult and pediatric patients.
  • To strengthen diagnostic skills in gastrointestinal and liver pathology by interpreting histological findings in correlation with clinical presentations and laboratory data, while understanding their impact on diagnosis and differential diagnosis.
  • To independently evaluate intraoperative consultations.
  • To gain exposure to transplant pathology.
  • To understand the utility of ancillary techniques, including molecular studies, for diagnostic and theranostic purposes in gastrointestinal and liver pathology.
  • To gain experience in FNA cytology of the liver and pancreas.
  • To develop an appreciation of the multidisciplinary team approach in managing patients with these diseases.
  • To enhance teaching abilities through interaction with pathology trainees, students, and clinicians.
  • To gain experience in research techniques, protocol writing, and the application of these techniques in completing research projects.
