This 3-month, in-house clinical fellowship is designed for international pediatricians seeking hands-on, bedside-intensive training in Pediatric Critical Care, integrated with Pediatric Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS). The program follows a structured curriculum that combines ICU-based learning with guided ultrasound skill development, led by senior faculty from the Department of Pediatric Critical Care and Nephrology.

Course Duration
Mode: Full-time, In-House
Location: Pediatric ICU, Amrita Hospital, Faridabad, India
Seats Available: 2 per batch

Eligibility for admission:
Open to pediatric postgraduates or practicing pediatricians (India and abroad)
Selection through online interview


Course Structure

Month 1

Foundations of Pediatric Critical Care

  • Stabilization & monitoring, PALS
  • Shock management, respiratory failure, meningitis
  • Central line placement, hypertensive crisis
  • POCUS Focus: Basic IVC scan, B-lines, pleural effusion, bedside ECHO

Month 2

Organ-Specific Intensive Care

  • Asthma & ARDS management (ventilated and non-ventilated)
  • Acute Kidney Injury vs. pre-renal states
  • ICP & hemodynamic monitoring, vasoactives
  • Liver failure, toxicology, trauma, status epilepticus

Month 3

Advanced ICU, Organ Support & Ethics

  • Sepsis with multiorgan failure
  • Dialysis modalities: PD, CRRT, SLED
  • Brain death assessment, ECMO readiness
  • Ethical care, end-of-life discussions
  • POCUS Application: Decision-making in real-time ICU care

Electives & Modules

Fellows will undergo the following electives and modules during the 3-month course:

  • PICU: 2 months
  • Nephrology: 1 month
  • Optional (subject to availability): 2 weeks – Pediatric CTVS ICU, NICU


Ongoing During Course

  • Daily ICU bedside teaching with senior intensivists
  • Weekly topic reviews and discussions
  • 2–3 POCUS scans per day (lung, cardiac, abdominal, vascular)
  • Skill logbook, monthly feedback, and procedural reflections

Certification

On successful completion, candidates receive a Certificate of Completion from Amrita Hospital, Faridabad.


Regulatory Requirements

Candidates who are international medical graduates may require NMC (National Medical Commission) clearance or documentation before participation. It is the fellow’s responsibility to ensure compliance with any such regulatory requirements.
