Abstract : Power Electronic Converters are widely being utilized in distribution systems which uses Renewable Energy Sources. Here a new strategy for controlling the grid side inverter in distribution systems along with improvement in power quality are presented. The controlled inverter performs as a multifarious-functional device by integrating the function of active power filter. Generated power from a fuel cell is injected through the inverter to the grid which acts like power converter and as a shunt APF for compensating unbalance currents, neutral current, harmonics in the load current and compensating the reactive power. Modeling and simulations are performed using MATLAB SIMULINK. The system performance was evaluated and the results have been illustrated with proper waveforms.
