In ASB, Coimbatore, the Ph.D. program in Management was started in the year 2009. It is a vibrant multi-disciplinary doctoral program open to both full time and part time aspirants. The program has gained reputation as one of the best in the country for its academic rigor and stringent quality standards.
The Ph.D. program is accredited with AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) the international hallmark of excellence in business education. This international accreditation represents the highest standard of achievement for business schools. ASB is one among few business schools in the country where the doctoral program is accredited with AACSB.
The broad areas of doctoral research include Marketing, Finance, Information Systems, OB, Economics, Operations, HRM, Strategy, Education, IT, Healthcare, Entrepreneurship and multi-disciplinary research are encouraged.
Ph.D. scholars have published research papers in some of the top peer reviewed international journals in their respective fields. This list includes amongst others Electronic Library, Anatolia, International Journal of Organizational Analysis, Leisure Studies, Journal of Brand Management, IIMB Management Review, Journal of Vacation Marketing, Benchmarking et al.
Doctoral programs in Management at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham is committed to educating scholars to lead in their fields of research on the complex socio-economic and managerial issues that are encountered in an increasingly competitive and challenging business world. Ph. D. in Management program imparts research training helping them to assume leadership role to prepare them to carry on independent investigation and original contribution to their respective field of research enabling them to contribute to the development and growth of the society at large.
ASB Kochi provides a plethora of opportunities to conduct collaborative research programmes. Many faculty members of the department are trained in renowned universities in India and abroad and are engaged in many research activities including being principal advisors of research projects, reviewer of international peer reviewed journals, consultancy assignments, serving as resource persons and external examiners for doctoral work etc.The research orientation of the department has produced many publications in journals of international repute. The department actively participate in collaborations offering interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research programmes. Such as engaging in the design and delivery of courses for the Master of Public Health (MPH) programme offered by the Department of Community Medicine of AIMS and in developing joint research projects.
Four types of applicants who are eligible to apply for admission to the Ph.D. program:
Full Time
Applicants holding a Master’s degree are eligible to apply for admission. Examples of Master’s degree include:
All applicants are expected to have strong academic records.
Part Time
Applicants who have a full-‐time appointment at the University or at another academic/R&D organization are eligible to apply for part-‐time admission. Other eligibility requirements of such applicants are same as full time applicants. Part Time students are permitted to proceed at a slower pace in completing their doctoral requirements.
Integrated
Exceptional students pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree here at Amrita will be allowed to apply for the Integrated Ph.D. program subject to the requirement that he or she completes all the requirements of the Bachelor’s or Master’s degree prior to ‘advancement to candidacy’.
Dual Degree
Exceptional students who satisfy the eligibility requirements of Amrita and that of Amrita’s International Partner University (IPU), as stated in the Dual Ph.D. MoU signed between Amrita and the IPU, are eligible for admission to the Dual Ph.D. program.
