These programs will help you to upgrade your technical skills in some of the cutting-edge technology domains – 5G, IoT, Mobile Edge, AI/ML, Blockchain, XR, Biomedical, GIS, remote sensing, etc. Amrita Center for Wireless Networks and Applications (Amrita WNA), a cutting-edge, interdisciplinary center for teaching and research at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Kollam campus, offers three M Tech programs.

1. Who can enrol?

Students with a qualifying 4+ year college degree can enrol, e.g.: B Tech / BE, MCA, M Sc*

3. What are the technology domains covered under each Program?

Wireless Networks and Applications 

  • 5G, IoT, Mobile Edge, Embedded Systems, AI/ML/DL, BigData, Blockchain, XR, Python, C, MATLAB, HFSS

Geoinformatics and Earth Observation

  • GIS (QGIS, ArcGIS), Remote Sensing (ENVI), IoT, AI/ML/DL, BigData, Python, R, MATLAB, Flood Modelling (Mike Flood plus)

Biomedical Engineering and Artificial Intelligence* 

  • Biomedical engg, Embedded Systems, AI/ML/DL, IoT, Mobile Edge, Real-life medical BigData, Python, DSP, MATLAB
4. How long is the Program?
  • The regular program is for two years (four semesters) – one year of coursework and one year of thesis work.
  • The slow-paced program is for three years (six semesters) – two years of coursework and one year of thesis work.
5. What will the thesis work involve?

Our center has several live deployments of complete systems involving, IoT, 4G/5G, BigData, AI/ML, Blockchain, etc., in various application domains such as disaster management, intelligent infrastructure for smart cities, wearable medical systems, environment monitoring, etc. The thesis work can be in any of these projects. The students may also come up with their own innovative project idea for the thesis.

6. How will the students attend classes?

They can attend theory classes online. Theory classes will also be recorded for later viewing. Lab exercises that require physical presence will be facilitated over weekends at the nearest campus.

7. What will be the evaluation structure for courses?

Typically, the internal evaluation will consist of a mid-term exam along with quizzes and assignments. There will also be a final exam at the end of the semester.

8. How will the students attend exams?

The quizzes and assignments can be submitted online. For the mid-term and final exams, the students will have to come to the nearest campus. The exam schedules will be prepared by considering the convenience of home makers.

9. What is the tuition fee?
  • For the full-time program, the tuition fee will be Rs. 79,500 per semester for four semesters payable at the beginning of every semester.
  • For the part-time program, the tuition fee will be Rs. 53,000 per semester for six semesters payable at the beginning of every semester.
10. What is the scholarship amount provided?

Scholarship of up to one lakh rupees is provided to students based on their CGPA. A minimum CGPA of 7.0 with no backlogs needs to be maintained for eligibility. The scholarship is paid monthly over the first four semesters. The eligibility is reviewed at the end of each semester.

11. What is the profile of the teaching faculty?

Our faculty have graduated (up to post-Doc) from reputed educational institutions in India as well as USA, Canada, Germany, etc. They have also worked in the industry and academia both in India and other countries such as USA, UK, Canada, etc.

12. What are the employment opportunities?

The students will be eligible to secure an internship (up to one year) with a company after finishing coursework. Typically, internships get converted into full-time employment based on performance

13. What are the companies in which M Tech graduates get placed?

The graduates get placed in three categories of companies – multi-national product companies, start-up companies, and IT companies. Examples of product companies are – Nokia, Toshiba, MediaTek, Getinge, Tata Elxsi, ESRI, Phillips, Intel, Dell, IBM, Cerner, Bosch, Cisco, etc. Several start-ups have hired our graduates. Examples of IT companies are – TCS, Infosys, Cognizant, Wipro, etc. In addition, our graduates have joined research organizations and universities/colleges as well.

14. What are the options for further studies?

There is an integrated M Tech + PhD option in which the students may use their MTech thesis as the basis for Ph D. This enables the PhD program to be completed faster, in about three years. There are opportunities to get co-guidance from faculty in our international collaborating institutions. Dual PhD options with our collaborators are also available.
