The management of diabetic-foot and lower limb problems is a highly specialized, yet neglected field, especially in the developing countries. Needless to stress, due to the rapidly increasing diabetic population, it is a highly evolving field world over. India is considered to be the diabetic capital of the world. In this context, the requirement of trained diabetic-foot surgeons is very high. Presently there is no institute in Asia offering a course of this nature.
Candidates must be familiar and competent to make correct diagnosis and appropriate management of diabetic lower limb & foot and ankle problems . Able to plan, arrange, execute and interpret diabetic foot investigations. Should acquire performance skills for diagnostic and therapeutic interventions in the field. Candidates must be familiar with the pattern of diabetic lower limb, foot & ankle problems of the community and should be able to identify and plan research proposals.
