Join an intensive fellowship at Aham, Amrita’s dedicated Gender Affirmation Clinic. Over 12 months, gain comprehensive clinical and academic experience in gender-affirming surgery across plastic, urologic, and GI surgical disciplines.

Multidisciplinary Learning

Collaborate with expert teams including:

  • Plastic Surgeons
  • Psychiatrists & Psychologists
  • Endocrinologists
  • Urologists
  • GI surgeons
  • ENT Surgeons
  • Gynecologists

Acquire hands-on training in a full range of gender-affirming procedures—from facial feminization to phalloplasty—with a strong emphasis on pre-op planning, surgical technique, and post-op care following WPATH Standards of Care.

Clinical Experience

Master surgical techniques such as:

  • Male-to-Female: Breast augmentation, nipple enlargement, penile-inversion vaginoplasty, colon vaginoplasty, facial feminization, body contouring, and hair transplantation
  • Female-to-Male: Circumareolar or double-incision mastectomy, body contouring, metoidioplasty, and phalloplasty

Gain expertise in pre- & post-operative workflows, patient counselling, and complication management.

Supervision & Teaching

  • Lead and mentor medical students and surgery residents
  • Participate in broad plastic surgery procedures to maintain plastic surgical proficiency

Supervisor: Dr. Sundeep Vijayaraghavan oversees clinical mentorship and operative learning.

Academic & Research Focus

  • Engage in transgender health research during the fellowship 
  • Aim to produce at least one peer-reviewed publication and present findings at conferences

Didactic Schedule

  • Weekly: Case discussions, surgical planning, and journal club sessions on Tuesdays, Thursdays & Saturdays 
  • Quarterly: Organize and lead a Gender Affirmation Surgery journal club for the program
