The MFA (Visual Media) Animation & VFX programme is a specialised two-year postgraduate programme created to mimic the professional and independent studio environment and offer opportunity to assume a creative leadership role. In terms of independent filmmaking, studio employment, and job creation, the entrepreneurial components of animation are emphasised most, along with the narrative film format.
Through the use of a range of animation and visual effects techniques, including traditional hand-drawn, stop-motion, 2D computer, and 3D computer animation, students are encouraged to hone their visual storytelling abilities in this programme. Application requirements include holding an undergraduate degree in animation, visual effects, emerging media, art, film, theatre, computer science, graphic design, illustration, creative writing, mass communications, game design, or a closely related field, as well as showcasing their expertise and success in animation through a writing sample and portfolio.
The program enables learners to:
- Comprehend, synthesize, and employ Animation theories, practices, principles and concepts to create and produce animated visuals appropriate to the target audience.
- Gain industry level exposure on graphic designing, animation, visual effects, photography, Videography, etc.
- Apply creativity and the aesthetic theories of an art and animation for communication in the form of animated content in accordance with various platforms.
