The School of Ayurveda, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri, conducted a free medical camp in the village Karimuttom, Kayamkulam, around 18 kilometres away from the institution with the support of the N. S. S. Vanitasamajam, Karimuttom, on June 8, 2019 (Sunday). The medical camp was conducted as part of its extension programme in the curriculum for the improvement or the clinical skills and social responsibilities among the students.

The team consisted of eight faculty members, 13 Post Graduate scholars from different clinical and nonclinical departments and 17 House Surgeons. 10 OPDs were set with 7 special OPDs including Shalakya, Prasooti, Shalya (Ortho), Shalya (Arsas), Kaumarabhrutya, KC (Manasika & Skindiseases) and 3 Genenl OPDs.

The camp started at 9 am after the prayer. Dr. C. Nagarajan (Br. Sankara Chaitanya) (Medical Director, School of Ayurveda, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri) was present and delivered a class on health awareness and importance and aim of the medical camp. 219 patients were registered and provided treatment. Medicine for five days were given free of cost to the patients and encouraged them to continue their treatment on free medical camps at Amrita School of Ayurveda on every Tuesday and Friday. The local organisers provided food and other facilities for the doctors.
