Next Gen Sustainable Automotive Technologies : Hig hlights from the SMART Symposium 2023

The symposium on ” Next Gen Sustainable Automotive Technologies” was organized by the Sustainable Mobility and Automotive Research Technology (SMART) Center at Amrita Viswa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri campus, Kerala, on December 7, 2023. The event was held at the Amriteshwari Hall, Amrita School of Engineering, and was attended by prominent experts in the field of sustainable automotive technologies.

The event began with a welcome and introductory address by Dr. Rajesh Kannan, Head of SMART Center, followed by the chief guest address by Dr. Shankar Venugopal, Vice President, Mahindra & Mahindra. The event also included felicitations by Dr. Jyothi, Associate Dean, Amritapuri Campus, and Br. Chidanandamrita Chaitanya, Chairperson, ECE department, Amritapuri Campus.

The symposium featured expert talks by several distinguished individuals, including Shri. Nagarajan, Vision Expert, Valeo India Private Limited, Smt. Nalini, Senior Technical Architect, IBM Security, India Software Labs, Dr. Prakash, Joint Director, Intelligent Transportation & Networking Group, CDAC, Shri. Pradeep Kumar, Adjunct Professor, Amrita University, Shri. Thirumalai, Sector Head, CSTEP, Shri. Pradeep Edathil, Technical Architect, Continental, and Smt. Sree Varshini, Automotive Application Engineer, MathWorks, and Dr. Suganthi, Senior R&D Lead, Valeo India Private Limited.

As part of the symposium, Dr. Shankar Venugopal, Vice President, Mahindra & Mahindra, inaugurated an EV Exhibition in the Amritapuri campus. The exhibition showcased cars and bikes from several companies, including KIA (EV6), TOYOTA (CAMRY, HYRYDER), MAHINDRA (eXUV 300, VERITO), TATA (TIAGO EV), BAJAJ (CHETHAK), HERO (VIDA V1), ATHER (450x, 450s).

The symposium on “NEXT GEN SUSTAINABLE AUTOMOTIVE TECHNOLOGIES” was a significant event that brought together experts in the field of sustainable automotive technologies. The event provided a platform for experts to share their knowledge and insights on the latest developments in the field. The symposium was organized by the SMART Center, which is a state-of-the-art research center focused on Smart Mobility research technologies, including Vehicle Energy Management Systems, Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) & Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) technology, Battery Charging Strategies and Battery Management System, Electric Motor Design & Modelling. The SMART Center is directed by Dr. Rajesh Kannan Megalingam, who is the Director of Humanitarian Technology (HuT) Labs, Head of the Amrita Coconut Research and Development (ACORD), and Professor at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham.
