Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore Campus, will conduct a course “Introduction to Robotics” by Mr. Hari Lakshman R. B., Technical Assistant, School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore.

Course Structure

  • Session will be headed online on google classroom. Total of 9 sessions not more than 45 minutes.

Basics

Foundational robotics course, who wish to understand the applications of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics). It will be more basic concepts and its applications of robotics in the field of health care, automobiles, etc.

Intermediate

This is more intended to educate real aspirants in robotics. This course will be helpful for those who wish to pursue any engineering branch after their +2 study. Mathematics, physics, mechanics and more of subjective contents of engineering level. Students who complete the certification of basic course successfully will be awarded robotic book also mention the top 5 students who successfully complete the certification of the intermediate course will be awarded robotics kit.

Prerequisites for Basics Course

  • For age 14 years and above.
  • Creative and open mind.
  • Keen interest in robotics and technology.
  • No prerequisite except keen desire for self – development.
  • Laptop, mobile with internet connectivity.

NOTE: The course is free of cost.

Schedule for Basics –batch:

Dates: January 8, 2021- February 6, 2021

Week 1 (2hrs 15mins):

  • Day 1: History & Fundamentals of Robotics
  • Day 2: Components of a robot, Applications of Robot & Types of Robots
  • Day 3: Robot Mechanisms.
  • Quiz 1

Week 2 (2hrs 15mins):

  • Day 1: Types of manipulators and their design.
  • Day 2: Actuators & Sensors
  • Day 3: Introduction to Arduino and Programming using code blocks.
  • Quiz 2

Week 3 (2hrs 15mins):

  • Day 1: Intro to AI
  • Day 2: An Intro towards Machine Learning and Neural networks.
  • Day 3: A real time project using Thinker Cad (Robot & circuit designing & simulation).

Schedule for Intermediate –batch:

Dates: February 27, 2021- March 27, 2021

Week 1 (2hrs 15mins):

  • Day 1: Foundation for Robotics.
  • Day 2: In-depth into Robot Mechanisms
  • Day 3: Spatial descriptions and transformation.
  • Quiz 1

Week 2 (2hrs 15mins):

  • Day 1: Kinematics Inverse kinematics of a manipulator.
  • Day 2: Working principles of Actuators, Motors & Sensors
  • Day 3: Introduction to Arduino and Programming using scratch.
  • Quiz 2

Week 3 (2hrs 15mins):

  • Day 1: Intro to AI in robotics.
  • Day 2: Intro towards Machine Learning, Deep learning & Machine learning algorithms.
  • Day 3: A real time project using Thinker CAD (Robot & circuit designing & simulation)

Course Format

  • The course paves the path to become a complete roboticist step by step.
  • Hands-on practice session on designing a robot.
  • This course is a total of 6 hours 45 minutes.
  • Every week a quiz will be conducted and will be evaluated.
  • There will be an assignment which must be completed within the due date in order to complete the course successfully.
  • On successful completion of the course, you earn a certificate.
