Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham & Brandeis University jointly organized an online distinguished lecture on Cyber security on July 29, 2021 from 7:00 pm to 8.30 pm IST by Prof. Anna Scherbina, Associate Professor of Finance, Brandeis International Business School, Massachusetts. Prof. Debarshi Nandi, Professor of Global Finance, International Business School also attended the event from Brandeis. The event was titled ‘Economic Threats on Malicious Cyber Activity. The lecture was followed by a question & answer session with participants.
Amrita faculties & coordinators who attended the event include Dr. Krishnashree Achuthan,Dean of PG Programs, Amrita University & Mr. Sarin Kumar K.M, Program Associate, Amrita Center for International Programs, Amritapuri.
The event commenced with introductory remarks and a welcome address by Prof. Debarshi Nandi and Dr.Krishnashree Achuthan. This was followed by a presentation by Prof. Anna Scherbina who discussed in detail the economic threats of malicious cyber activity. A great emphasis was placed on the economics of cybersecurity & the impact of cybercrime on the US economy and its implications to the rest of the world. She also spoke about the growing cyber threats, differential exposures to cyber risks, research on Cyber security, firm’s underinvestment in cyber security, and solutions to cyber threats.
Approximately 86 participants including students and faculties especially from Cybersecurity and Computer Science departments from Amritapuri, Bangalore & Coimbatore campuses of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham attended the event.
