A Workshop on Kotlin was conducted by ASCII supported by ACM, CSI chapters, on November 2, 2019, at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore campus. The full-day session from 9 am to 4 pm was handled by Mr. Mohammad Yaseen, Mr. Santhosh Kumar, Mr. Sasi Kumar, Mr. Sanjeev Subramanyam, Mr. Gobinath Manokaran, Mr. Bala Subramanyam and Ms. Anusha. Mr. Mohammad Yaseen and Mr. Santhosh Kumar along with their associates work as product developers at ThoughtWorks Technologies (India) Pvt Ltd., Coimbatore. They are renown public speakers at various GDG events on wide range of technological topics. They are also experienced hands-on coders who are very passionate about working on emerging technologies.
The workshop included participants from B. Tech Computer Science and Engineering (IInd and IIIrd year students). Concepts on Kotlin, how, where and why Kotlin needs to be used were briefed in the earlier part of the session. In the later part of the session, a hands-on experience program was organized in order to make the participants realize the importance and ease of KOTLIN programming.
The workshop was coordinated by Dr. N. Harini (Assistant Professor at Department of Computer Science and Engineering, School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore Campus), Ms. Bindu K. R. (Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore Campus) and students Sri Hari S. (CB.EN.U4CSE17457) and P. Hemanth Kumar (CB.EN.U4CSE17446).
