The first year B.Sc. Nursing students (19th Batch) of Amrita College of Nursing conducted a program named ‘Apoorva’ in response to the UGC circular, F.No. 11-1/20-21(GS) dated April 19, 2021, on gender sensitization about leadership, sacrifice and the remarkable role played by women in all walks of life in order to create a feeling of respect for women from September 3-4, 2021 from 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm on Google Meet platform. The program was conducted in regional language, Malayalam, and focused on five aspects namely women patriotic leaders, women from ancient scriptures, role of mother in the development of a person, female social reformers and women nurse leaders. The program was inaugurated by Prof. Anila K.P, Professor, Amrita College of Nursing. The highlights of the program were video presentation and narration, quiz competition, speech, malayalam recitation, power point presentations and poster presentation. Ninety students and eight faculty members participated in the program. Feedback from the students revealed that they got the confidence to express their feelings in regional language through different modes of presentation like poems, speech etc. and met the ultimate objective which was to appreciate the contribution and sacrifice made by women in all walks of life.
