Bio

J. S. Kavitha works as an Assistant Professor in the Department of English, School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Chennai. Her professional objective is to identify the communication and training needs of the student community and work towards providing the best possible support and solution. She believes that a teacher’s success does not stop producing industry-ready professionals alone. It is their responsibility to mould them into better human beings, who would be socially responsible individuals.

J. S. Kavitha pursued her Under-graduation and Post-graduation at Lady Doak College, Madurai. Her M. Phil. is from Thiagarajar Arts and Science College, Madurai. She also has an M. Sc. degree in Psychology from Tamil Nadu Open University. She has received several awards for her meritorious achievements which includes the Maveeran Sundaralingam Trust merit scholarship for the best student at Madurai Kamaraj University.She has completed her Post Graduate Certificate in the Teaching of English offered by The English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad, India in August 2020. Presently, she is pursuing her Ph. D. under Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli. Her area of interest is English Language Teaching (ELT) focusing on the Psychological, Sociological and Pedagogical approaches to Second Language Acquisition.

Prior to joining Amrita School of Engineering, J. S. Kavitha worked as a Part time/ Guest Faculty in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, India, for a period of three years. She has a work experience of over 11 years in various institutes like SRM Arts and Science College and Sathyabama University, Chennai. She has been part of the central government’s NSDC project as a trainer. She has excelled as a freelance soft skills and corporate etiquette trainer. She is also a Business English Communication trainer certified by the British Council. Student counselling is one of her strengths which she has best utilized throughout her teaching career.

J. S. Kavitha has four national publications to her credit. She has presented seven papers in various International and National conferences and has been actively participating in various FDPs, workshops and seminars throughout her career. She has also been invited to deliver talks online from different institutions.
