Relationships with Government and NGOs for SDG Policy

Dr. Bhavani Rao R, Director and UNESCO Chair, Centre for Women’s Empowerment & Gender Equity, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham is one of the members of the committee constituted by MSDE (Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship). She was invited for a meeting on ‘Committee on revamping & restructuring of Jan Shikshan Sansthan (NGOs) in MSDE. The competent Authority has decided to review the role of Jan Shikshan Sansthan in the light of skill India programmes and suggest measures for the effective functioning’. Discussions were held by the committee towards submission of its report on the performance of Jan Shikshan Sansthan and their suggestions on reforms/roadmap for strengthening the scheme to the ministry. The scheme is related to SDG 1 – No Poverty and SDG 4 – Quality Education.

Activity Report

Title: First meeting of Constitution of committee on revamping & restructuring of Jan Shikshan Sansthans in MSDE-New Delhi.

Aim: The Scheme of Support to Jan Shikshan Sansthans (NGO) for Skill Development is being implemented through voluntary organizations. The aim of the current meeting was to revamp and restructure the existing NGO’s working as JSS partners by forming a committee of experts.
