Amrita’s Live-in-Labs® Earn Prestigious Spot at British Council Poster Exhibition

Representatives from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham were accorded a prestigious invitation to the British Council in New Delhi from September 18 to 19. The invitation recognizes Amrita’s exceptional international collaborative efforts with Durham University (UK) in the year 2022. The occasion was a part of the “Going Global Partnership” program, which saw the British Council funding a total of 70 projects between higher education institutions in India and the UK last year. Out of these, the top 15 were handpicked for an exclusive exhibition held in Delhi.

The exhibition served as a platform to showcase Amrita’s groundbreaking work, particularly highlighting the Live-in-Labs® program, to a delegation from 26 UK universities and various Indian and UK government representatives. This event not only celebrated past achievements but also explored exciting opportunities for future international research, student exchanges, and collaborative endeavors.

The selected project, titled “Development of Joint India-UK Learning and Teaching Programmes with Live-in-Labs® as a Cornerstone,” delved into the pressing challenges with respect to ensuring access to clean water in three rural communities in Kerala, India. It ingeniously leveraged the distinctive Live-in-Labs® methodology, that encompasses participative, community-based, and experiential learning approach. The project brought together PhD scholars from Amrita School for Sustainable Futures and post-graduate students from Amrita Centre for Wireless Networks and Applications who were expertly guided by faculty members from Durham and Amrita.

Amrita representatives at the event include Mr. Souresh Cornet, International project coordinator, Live-in-Labs®, Amrita School for Sustainable Futures, and Ms. Sujatha Ramanathan, Vice-Director, Amrita Center for International Programs, responsible for managing collaborations with Europe.

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s participation in the British Council’s esteemed exhibition hopes to pave the way forward for promising international collaborations in the realms of education and research, reaffirming their commitment to innovation and global cooperation.
