About e-Courts

The E-Courts Services Portal was launched in 2013, to offer ICT services to the judicial system across the country, from the grassroots level to the highest court of the country. By 2022, almost 3000 district and taluka courts have been covered under the project, offering a wide range of information on case status, cause list, and orders/judgments online. The portal made considerable progress in creating the National Judicial Data Grid (NJDG) for the use of all stakeholders by the end of 2022.

The case on E-Courts Services attempts to study the evolution of digital services in the judiciary and document the multiple challenges and opportunities that the introduction of ICT in the judiciary brought in.  The case is meant to be a learning tool and structured as a teaching Case. The Case is written to highlight and bring to the fore the managerial and administrative concerns and issues. It attempts to articulate the change management processes initiated in pursuit of eCourts Mission Mode Project. It further attempts to touch upon the technological reforms introduced to implement a futuristic public policy envisioned for the country’s judicial system. The case also envisages to focus on the documentation of the processes that the E-Courts Portal has introduced to lead the change management in a silent and decisive manner

Length of the Case: 1 hr
