Artificial Intelligence Based Condition Monitoring of Electrical Motors in Electric Vehicles:
As the usage of Electric Vehicles (EV) is inevitable in the near future, the electric propulsion motor, which is an integral part, is considered one of the core technologies of EV. Among different electrical motors, induction motor (IM) and permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) are widely preferred by EV manufacturers. Since propulsion motor covers a significant portion of total EV cost, it is essential to diagnose the faults at the incipient stage to prevent catastrophic damage and reduce financial losses.
Artificial Intelligence-based algorithms such as machine learning (ML), a knowledge-based, are currently perceived in every sector of present-day technologies will be suitable for intelligent fault diagnosis of EV motors. Various complicated operational parameters in traditional fault diagnostic approaches can be dealt with appropriately by developing ML-based fault diagnosis.
