AmritaWNA is currently designing, developing, and deploying a multi-site, multi-modal, multi-channel, interactive, immersive classroom experience via the Amrita National Knowledge Network (NKN) Global Classroom project. The aim is to create “an institution without walls and borders ”, which connects various institutions, researchers, experts, and students – around the world – and brings them under one roof. Video and audio streams with multiple perspectives are linked together in real-time to create a shared media and knowledge environment. The NKN Global Classroom project was announced at the 2nd US-India Network Enabled Research Collaboration Workshop held in Washington D.C. in March 2012.
