'Life Writing-I' is a course offered in Third Semester of B. A. (Bachelor of Arts) English Language and Literature program at the School of Arts and Sciences, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Mysuru campus.

To familiarize students with different types of life writing such as autobiography, travel writing and memoir; to sensitize the students about the problem of representing the lives of people from different cultures througha critical evaluation of these writings.

Unit I: 

Introducing life writing- autobiography, biography, travel writing, memoir, diary, letter as sub – genres-evolution of the art of life writing -difference between biography and autobiographyliterary qualities oflife writing.
