Abstract of the Talk

  • Various issues in understanding the Canonical Quantum Mechanics are presented.
  • Two important paradigms, namely, the two-slit experiment and the EPR paradox are discussed.
  • The role of the observer is briefly presented with specific connotation to find the answer to the question: should we not attempt to enquire the enquirer.

About the Speaker

Professor M.V. Sathyanarayana has obtained Ph.D. in theoretical physics (quantum optics, non-classical states of electromagnetic fields) in the Institute of Mathematical Sciences, Chennai, and has held post-doctoral positions in the department of physics, University of Arkansas and ICTP, Trieste, Italy. He has been with the Department of Physics, IIT Madras since 1989. His areas of research include Quantum Optics, Quantum Mechanics, and Mathematical Physics.
