Padma Shri Prof. (Dr).G. Shankar is an Architect, Academician, Writer from Kerala. He advocates the use of locally available materials, sustainability, Eco-friendliness and cost-effectiveness. He founded the Habitat Technology Group, Thiruvananthapuram, in 1985. He has also won the prize for the best architect in India. His attitude to “green architecture” has gained him a reputation as the “people’s architect”. Shankar has been awarded the Padma Shri in recognition of distinguished services in the field of Science and Engineering, by Govt. of India in 2011. Padma Shri G Shankar received honorary Doctorate from the University of Asia, which is graded as a Tier 1 university in international ranking in the year 2019.
