Workshop on New directions in Information Security Research

TIFAC-CORE in Cyber Security, Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore Campus organized  a one day workshop on New directions in Information Security Research on April 12,  2016.

Aims and Objectives

The one day workshop aimed to engage with the participants to discuss various research directions in information security and the underlying cryptography that underpins them. The program is made up of talks on state-of-the-art Cryptography, Cyber Security, Hardware Security and Digital Forensics areas.

  • Dr. M. Sethumadhavan, Head of TIFAC CORE in Cyber Security addressed the audience and delivered a lecture on how to provide a better security and discussed the same in cryptography and gave an insight to the evolution of some of the cryptographic algorithms. In his keynote talk Dr. S. K. Pal  (SAG, DRDO) gave an inspiring lecture on the new areas of multimedia security covering the areas like applications of image processing, steganography, watermarking He introduced new technologies where security has to be a major concern.
  • Dr. Nirmala Devi M. from Dept of ECE presented on topic Hardware Security and its relevance.
  • Mr. Pradeep Menon Chief Information Security Officer – Security Excellence, Paramount Computer Systems, continued the session with his expertise in the domain information risk management. He explored the threats that are faced by the organization and how to take preventive measures.
  • Last session was by Ms. Amritha P. P.  (Assistant Professor) on the topic Adversarial Machine Learning. New problems in this area was discussed. Some of the open problems on the security of machine learning was also discussed.
