Syllabus

Fundamentals of IT – introduction to the internet and the world wide web (WWW) Information technology – an overview of what it is and what are its applications. Computer system types, components, digital signals, microprocessors, input/output devices, storage devices etc. Introduction to software – operating systems, word processing, spreadsheet and database applications. Foundations of modern networks – overview of different architectures and protocols . Multimedia. IT applications in biology and biotechnology, Introduction to supercomputing, Basic operations in Spreadsheets like summing, averaging, graphs and visualizations. Making graphs and plots for scientific data, Fundamentals of programming.
