Dr. Bhaskar Viswanathan, Professor & Head of the Radiation Oncology Department at Amrita Hospital, Faridabad, studied at Frank Anthony Public School and attended National College in Bengaluru. He secured his MD from Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology in 1997. He did a one-year clinical research project at Tata Memorial Hospital in Mumbai in 1998.
In 1998, he took the position of an assistant professor at Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology and served there for eight years. In addition to clinical work, he did short academic courses in genetic engineering and human molecular genetics at the Indian Institute of Science research lab and trained at the Bengaluru campus of the Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI).
Later, he enrolled in a one-year clinical fellowship program at Jurivinski Cancer Centre, Hamilton, Canada.
From 2008 to 2012, he worked as an associate professor in radiation oncology at the Vydehi Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, Bengaluru. While working there, in 2017, he attended an orientation program at Erasmus MC Netherlands on hyperthermia techniques in breast and cervical cancers. Eventually, he was promoted to the post of professor. He worked there till 2022.
