Bio

Dr. Parvathy V currently serves as Chairperson & Assistant Professor of the Department of Social Sciences, School of Social and Behavioural Sciences, Amritapuri. Parvathy earned her Ph.D. from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham in the field of substance misuse among indigenous communities, with a particular emphasis on their resilience and well-being. She worked as Research Associate in the women empowerment project at AMMACHI Labs, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Kollam; before pursuing research at the Department of Social Work, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri Campus. Here, she worked as University Grants Commission Junior Research Fellowship since 2015, followed by the University Grants Commission Senior Research Fellowship from 2018-2020. She completed her postgraduation in social work from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham with a specialization in Physical and Mental Health. Her research interests include Health and well-being, Psycho-Social and Strengths perspectives, Resilience & Alcohol misuse, Spirituality in Social Work and self-development, Social Work Methods, Social Work in Physical and Mental health settings, and Social Work Research.
