Abstract : A dual frequency omnidirectional monopole antenna design with a gain better than 2dBi at both bands is proposed in this paper for the detection of ions during the radiolysis process. The proposed antenna is able to detect with a high level of accuracy H+ and OH- ions formed during the process radiolysis. Dual band is achieved by configuring the ground plane to generate different electrical length corresponding to desired operating frequencies. The design ensures compactness, low cost and high efficiency in the mentioned scenario and the proposed antenna could be a valid alternative to standard radiation leakage detectors.
