Abstract : Scheduling is one of the primary functions of an operating system (OS). In multiprogramming system, multiple processes in the main memory exist concurrently. The goal of Central Processing Unit (CPU) scheduling is to allocate processes to be executed by the processor over time. In this paper, we have discussed about various advantages and disadvantages of CPU scheduling algorithms and an optimal solution for each of them.
