Abstract : There is a vast potential for use of Solar Photo Voltaic (SPV) systems in industries because of the large roof top area available. Since the renewable sources produce power that are intermittent in nature, it has to be supported by the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). This paper presents a battery integrated solar PV system for industrial applications. A prototype of 3kW has been simulated in MATLAB Simulation. A synchronous boost converter is utilized to interconnect the solar array to 500V DC bus. Another synchronous bi-directional boost converter is proposed for the interconnection of battery to the SPV system. The results obtained from simulation analysis show that the use of synchronous boost converter increases the efficiency of the system. The controller implemented ensures maximum power point tracking, DC link voltage regulation and proper power sharing between the sources.
