Does Malaysian Tourism attract Singaporeans to revisit Malaysia? An Empirical study

Abstract : Singapore in particular has been the major contributor for Malaysia in terms of international tourist arrivals and accounted for 50% of thearrivals into Malaysiaon the average per year. In terms of revenue, Malaysia receives morethan 46% of the total tourismrevenueper yearfrom Singapore tourists(Jayaraman et al., 2010). The influx of tourists from Singapore can be attributed to the close family ties between peoples of the two nations. This paper investigates the movements of Singapore tourists visitingMalaysia and the possible reasons. The investigation includes the comparison betweenthe Malaysiantourism importance and the satisfactory level among Singapore touristsvisiting Malaysia. The results showthat visiting friends and relatives would be the main reason for Singaporeans to revisit Malaysia. To improve the Malaysiantourism market forSingaporevisitors, several marketing strategies are discussed based on the detailed analysis
