Abstract : Agriculture is the main occupation for the majority of the rural holdings in India. Seasonal conditions and rains play a major role in the daily lives of the villagers. Considering small-scale farmers, conditions unfavourable to farming not only leaves them without much of an income but it also severely affecting their lifestyle and pushes them to neglect basic necessities as education and health of their children and they tend to focus on generating income by migrating to other nearby places. This study mainly focuses on understanding and analysing the issues faced by unemployment and irregularity in income in a small village Muljipura situated in Madhya Pradesh. Seasonal Migration due to unemployment causes a significant damage to the younger generation, depriving them of several skills they wish to obtain and master. The observed results indicated reasons for the inability of the locals to learn up desired skills which could be turned into to a future minor occupation to avoid migration. Financial constraints, travelling to a nearby village for skill training and consequential ignorance towards agriculture were some of the crucial concerns. Unemployment and resulting short term migration is the highlighting concern as it reduces the self-productivity of the village, income stability, the skill value and the development of the future generation, in turn, hindering the buildout of the village. A possible solution to this drawback can be the utilization of the available resources and processing it to obtain a market valued product which can keep the income flowing during non-agricultural seasons. This inference entails for the provision of opportunity to balance the generation of income to result in a significant decrease in migration in a viable and sustainable manner without causing a harm to their agricultural practice.
