Abstract : The article documents the dilemmas of a national level social enterprise that was implementing an e-governance project of Government of India, to promote and manage village level digital technology driven micro enterprises called Common Service Centers (CSCs), on a "for-profit" platform in the country. The company is caught between balancing the core objective of running e-governance based services on one-side and meet the new set of objectives being pushed by teh government to address the rural financial inclusion goals.
