Abstract : Segway is the first mode of transportation that can balance, stand, and walk like a human. It is a contemporary idea, based on the discipline of automotive engineering. Segway are non-polluting vehicles that are powered by batteries and motors. This work aims to make a Segway. The requirements for making the Segway include modeling the system (mechanical parameters and electrical specifications respectively), implementing control for stabilization, designing/building a Segway and a BLDC motor controller. In this paper the importance of BLDC motor in the incorporation with Segway is analyzed, with respect to speed control. MATLAB Simulink platform was used to design, simulate and analyze the speed control of the BLDC motor for the Segway keeping the safety parameters in consideration.
