Abstract : Joint source channel coding for transmission of continuous amplitudes in discrete-time is found to be suitable for the noisy channel.Similarly, analog feedback based communication system (AFCS) is found to have an optimized channel capacity by reaching theoretical value. In this work, preliminary investigation on these two systems is carried out.We compared these systems based on optimum performance theoretically attainable (OPTA). It is found that AFCS reaches the OPTA more closely in a higher signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) regime when the feedback noise variance is low i.e the quality of the feedback channel is good. Whereas the joint source channel coding technique is found to have a constant increment below the OPTA with respect to SNR.
