Abstract : pIn this paper an IGBT switch short circuit fault in a pulse width modulated (PWM) voltage source inverter (VSI) fed three phase induction motor is analyzed using Finite Element Method (FEM). Induction motor (IM) analytical parameters like current, torque, speed and electromagnetic parameters like flux lines distribution, flux density distribution and radial air gap flux density are analyzed using ANSYS Maxwell Finite Element Analysis tool. The spatial FFT spectrum of radial air gap flux density indicates the switch short circuit fault as change in magnitude of fundamental component and around 100mm distance components. © 2018, Institute of Advanced Scientific Research, Inc.
