Abstract : This paper presents a microstrip line loaded with open loop resonators (OLRs) for filter applications. The filter characteristics is achieved by including open loop resonator (OLR) as etched pattern on the microstrip line (MSL), thus making it a Perturbed Microstrip Line (PML). The effect of increasing the number of perturbations in the MSL is also analyzed. With a dielectric constant of 4.4, the bandwidth and frequency of the design is measured to experimentally confirm the validity of the result. The effectiveness of the proposed PML filter as passive 3 bit RFID tag is also studied. The proposed band stop filter can be widely used in communication system and space technology, especially mobile and satellite communication due to its better performance and compactness.
