Abstract : Coating technology is one of the most innovative technologies relevant to industrial and domestic purposes. Introduction of superhydrophobicity to a coating increases its utility in self-cleaning, anti-icing, anti-fouling, anti-corrosion and anti-fogging applications. Application of a superhydrophobic coating is the most suitable way to protect solid interfaces from water contact. Fabrication of superhydrophobic polymer and composite coatings is currently attracting tremendous interest due to its various applications in the packaging, aerospace, biomedical and automotive sectors. This chapter focuses on the fabrication, characterization and properties of superhydrophobic polymer and composite coatings by conventional coating methods.
