Abstract : Functional and content words are highly expressive. The functional words like adpositions and auxiliary verbs, modal auxiliary verbs, and helping verbs are polysemic and synonymic in nature. They play a vital role in determining the syntactic and semantics of natural languages. In the context of machine translation (MT), the issues related to them still remain a major problem. This study aims to develop a sample knowledge-based method of MT system, which is able to handle the linguistic specificities of the source (SL) and target (TL) languages.
