Abstract : Electric Vehicle (EV) is anticipated to play an important role in urban transport in near future. The passion in the minds of many researchers for an eco-friendly transport medium with reduced dependency on fossil fuels have sparked a large-scale research shift towards EV and its promotion. It is one of the solutions for major issues owing to urban transport such as deteriorating air quality, rising green-house gas emissions and noise pollution. With the popularization of EVs, the research on EV charging stations (EVCS) has also boosted up and global standards have been set for charging with the help of EV manufacturers. This work aims at contributing towards the application of these EVCS installed at various locations in providing Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) support along with vehicle charging to support the grid during different requirements. A specific c ase of EVCS i nstalled at Kochi Metro Rail System has been simulated where vehicle charging, harmonic elimination, and reactive power compensation is studied and the results are explained with the help of waveforms. A hardware setup has also been used to verify the simulation results.
