Course Syllabus

Overview of available micro-controllers, Introduction to Embedded Systems, Digital Signal Controllers, Digital Signal processors available in the market.

Modified Harvard Architecture based micro-controller: Introduction, file registers, memory organization, interrupts, electrical characteristics, peripherals: Ports, Timer, ADC, USART, PWM Channels.

Signal generation: PWM, SPWM and servo signals.

Filtering algorithms: FIR filters, IIR filters.

Control Algorithms: P, PI, PID controllers, Fourier Transforms: DFT, FFT, DCT algorithms.

Lab Practice: Interfacing power electronic switches, voltage and current measurement techniques, digital ammeter and voltmeter, PWM based power converter control, harmonics analysis using FFT.
