Crafting multi-episode story arcs and character development. Exploring genre conventions and audience engagement strategies. Writing for digital platforms: episodic structure and pacing. Developing concept pitches for web series

Unit II

Planning and Pre-production

Pre-production process for a web series, including aspects such as script development, casting, location scouting, and budgeting.

Unit III

Production for Web Series

Actual production process, including directing, cinematography, sound recording, and managing the production crew.

Unit IV

Post-production

Using editing for narrative complexity. Enhancing storytelling through non-linear editing techniques. Visual effects and compositing for adding production value. Editing exercises focusing on pacing and tension building.

Unit V

Distribution and Marketing of Web Series

Various platforms are available for distributing web series. Strategies for marketing and promoting a web series to reach a wider audience.

Objectives and Outcomes

Objective:

The objective of the ‘Digital Video Production for Web Series’ course is to provide students with an in- depth understanding of the process and techniques involved in creating engaging web series content. The course aims to build upon the students’ existing knowledge of script writing, video production, and audio production, and guide them towards creating professional-quality digital video content suitable for various online platforms.

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • CO1: Analyze the specific requirements of web series production, including understanding audience demographics, platform constraints, and genre conventions.
  • CO2: Apply advanced techniques in cinematography, lighting, and sound design to enhance the visual and auditory appeal of their web series.
  • .CO3: Evaluate various online platforms for their potential reach, audience engagement, and monetization opportunities, and select the most suitable platform for their web series.
  • CO4: Create a detailed production plan for a web series, encompassing aspects such as budgeting, scheduling, casting, location scouting, and resource allocation.
  • CO5: Demonstrate proficiency in using advanced post-production tools for editing, color grading, sound mixing, and special effects to create a polished final product.
  • CO6: Critically assess the success of a web series in achieving its intended objectives, through methods such as viewer feedback, viewership statistics, and critical reviews.
