Blockchain and Decentralized Applications

Event Report

Arjun, an accomplished individual with a background in product development, protocol design, and combating misinformation, led a series of interactive workshops from March 4-7, 2024. The workshops focused on crucial aspects of Web 3 technology, including decentralized end-to-end encryption and the design of decentralized applications.

With Arjun’s expertise in infrastructure development and his role at Threshold/NuCypher, a prominent decentralized network, the workshops provided valuable insights into building censorship-resistant and privacy-focused applications. Arjun’s contributions to the development of TACo, an encrypted access control plugin, and the Stable Yield mechanism for small staker welfare showcased his innovative approach to addressing critical issues within the Web 3 ecosystem.

The workshops attracted significant interest, with 50 students attending in person and an additional 300 participating online. This diverse audience reflects the growing enthusiasm and demand for knowledge in emerging technologies like Web 3. Arjun’s multifaceted background, including experience in NLP product development and policy research, undoubtedly enriched the workshop discussions and provided attendees with valuable perspectives on the intersection of technology, privacy, and societal impact.

More About Speaker

Arjun heads up product & protocol at Threshold/NuCypher; the multi-app, day-one-decentralized network that hosts the tBTC BTC-Ethereum bridge and critical Web3 infrastructure. Arjun leads infrastructure development, with a particular focus on TACo – a censorship-resistant end-to-end encrypted access control plugin. He also designed Threshold’s Stable Yield mechanism for small staker welfare, and previously co-authored NuCypher’s economic papers alongside Curve’s Michael Egorov. Arjun has built NLP products to combat misinformation at Factmata, founded a diversity-tech startup, and built an e2e encrypted whistleblower channel for reporting monopolistic corporate behavior to the FTC. Arjun published policy research while at Kyoto University and has a degree in physics from Imperial College London.
