ABOUT

SPASHT is a national-level UG medical fest hosted by Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi, aimed at providing
clinical clarity and procedural precision to MBBS students
through 5 immersive days of learning. The name “Spasht” (Sanskrit for “clear” or “precise”) reflects its core vision: bridging the gap between theory and clinical
practice.

Highlights

Whether you’re practicing a lumbar puncture or exploring forensic hypnotism, SPASHT is your launchpad from classroom to clinic.

Instructions

Registration for Events

  • All events require registration.
  • After registration and payment, a ticket will be sent as proof of registration via email or WhatsApp. Also attached will be the invitation link to a specific WhatsApp group where further details will be provided.
  • Participants are encouraged to go through the agenda before registering to avoid clashes between the chosen events. In case of clashes in scientific event timings, inform the representatives concerned to sort it out.
  • There is no limit to the number of events a participant can register for

Delegate Pass

  • Registrations for SPASHT ‘25 shall be carried out through Google Forms
  • The Delegate Pass is a must to participate and gain access as an audience to all the conference events and the workshops.
  • Delegate pass comes with a basic kit and food coupons. (Accommodation is not included)
  • Delegate Pass shall be obtained by paying a nominal fee of Rs.150, which is mandatory for participation in all offline events.
  • Upon obtaining the delegate pass, you can register for different events.
  • For scientific events (case presentation and research presentation) only finalists need to obtain the delegate pass – abstract submission does not require it.

Case Discussions

This day is dedicated for Gastroenterology and General Surgery and is a comprehensive academic and practical workshop designed for medical students and professionals interested in digestive health and surgical practices. It includes a series of expert-led sessions covering key topics such as in-depth case discussion on chronic liver disease and right iliac fossa, the transition from NAFLD to MAFLD, imaging techniques in gastroenterology, and case discussions on surgical conditions.​

Interactive elements such as a GI picture quiz provide participants with opportunities to apply their knowledge. The day concludes with a hands-on skill lab, where attendees can practice essential clinical procedures like bandaging, Ryle’s tube insertion, Foley’s catheterization, and even perform a liver biopsy demonstration.​

This event offers a valuable blend of theory and practice, making it ideal for enhancing clinical acumen in gastroenterology and general surgery.​

Skill Workshop

  • The Skill Lab session on Day 1 is a focused, hands-on workshop designed to equip participants with essential clinical skills in general surgery and gastroenterology. This session offers a rare opportunity to practice under expert supervision, making it ideal for medical students and early-career professionals.​
  • Participants will receive practical training in the following procedures:​
  • •Bandaging and Wound Care: Learn proper techniques for dressing wounds to prevent infection and promote healing.​
  • •Ryle’s Tube Insertion: Hands-on practice in placing a nasogastric tube, a vital procedure in patient nutrition and gastric decompression.​
  • •Foley’s Catheterization: Gain confidence in urinary catheter insertion, an essential skill for managing fluid balance and urinary retention.​
  • Additionally, there will be an advanced hands-on demonstration of Liver Biopsy, allowing participants to understand indications, techniques, and safety measures involved in this invasive but critical diagnostic procedure.​
  • This session emphasizes practical learning, enabling participants to build competence and confidence in performing routine and specialized medical procedures.​

OBGYN and Pediatrics

Case Discussions

The course provides an in-depth tour of uterine and prenatal health, starting with an in-depth case discussion of uterine fibroids, followed by a session on reading pelvic ultrasound results. This is succeeded by a tour of uterine anatomy and pathology reinforced with an interactive pop quiz, followed by a case discussion on pre-eclampsia. The final OBG session delves into the world pregnancy through imaging​

The program progresses to a compelling rapid-fire paediatrics quiz followed by a session on preterm neonatal care. The morning sessions conclude with case discussion of cerebral palsy, emphasizing on early detection, important red signs, diagnostic tests and evaluation.​

Skill Workshop​

  • Participants will gain hands-on experience in the management of normal labour, along with essential skills in cervical cancer screening, including visual inspection with acetic acid (VIA) and Pap smear sample collection and interpretation.​
  • An interactive hands-on experience equipping participants with the essentials of newborn resuscitation, techniques for performing lumbar puncture in infants, and effective methods for growth monitoring.​

This day a dynamic blend of clinical insight and hands-on learning, diving deep into the intricacies of the cardiovascular and respiratory systems. The morning session begins with a compelling case presentation on valvular heart disease, followed by session exploring the cardiovascular system in an engaging, collaborative format.This is a succeeded by a live echocardiography demonstration in “Echo in Action” brought textbook theory to life, giving students a real-time view of cardiac imaging. ​

After the break, attention shifted to pulmonary challenges through an in-depth look at fibrocavitary lung disease case discussion, and followed by a session decoded the complexities of the respiratory system. The final academic session showecases a live spirometry demonstration, bridging diagnostics with hands-on evaluation.​

Skill Workshop

The skill workshops offers a highly practical and immersive experience tailored to strengthen clinical proficiency in emergency cardiovascular and respiratory care. Under expert guidance, participants will be trained in a range of essential life-saving procedures including Basic Life Support (BLS), intubation, intercostal drain insertion, bronchoscopy, and pleural tapping.​

Each station combined structured instruction with hands-on practice, enabling attendees to refine critical techniques and build procedural confidence. Designed to bridge the gap between theory and practice, the workshop empowered medical students with the skills necessary to respond swiftly and effectively in high-stakes clinical situations.​

This high-impact session was not only educational but also instrumental in preparing future clinicians for real-world challenges in acute care settings.​

After the tea break, the focus transitions seamlessly into Orthopaedics.
