Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham organized a one day workshop on Outcome-based Education at Coimbatore campus on October 26, 2015. The workshop was led by Prof. N. J. Rao, Visiting Professor at International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Bangalore. 25 participants comprising of Chairs and Vice-chairs of IQAC, Departments and Centers of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore campus attended the workshop. In this hands-on workshop, Prof. N. J. Rao gave an overview on Outcome-based Education as also touched upon strategies for framing Program Educational Objectives (PEO), Program Outcomes (PO), Program Specific Outcomes (PSO) and Course Outcomes (CO) in the context of engineering education.
Prof. N. J. Rao is a Visiting Professor at International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Bangalore, and a consultant in the areas of Higher Education after retiring from Indian Institute of Science. He was the Chairman of Centre for Electronics Design and Technology (presently DESE) and Department of Management Studies at Indian Institute of Science. He designs and conducts a wide range of faculty development programs on curriculum design and instructional design of courses. He was involved in several large national level projects on higher education. He is presently member of the Expert Committee of NBA and the resource person for FLAIR programs of Kerala. His present research interests include pedagogy of higher education, issues related to quality of learning and education technology.
