Dr. Sandhya Sadanandan currently serves as Assistant Professor at the School of Arts and Sciences, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri.  She joined Amrita School of Arts and Sciences in June 2018. She completed her B. Sc. from the University of Calicut in 2007 and M. Sc. from the University of Madras in 2009. She received her Ph. D. in Organic Chemistry from Indian Institute of Technology Delhi in 2015 with the thesis entitled “PEPTIDE DESIGN: Designer Peptides as Anion Sensors, Secondary Structure Mimetics and Self- Assembled Materials”. Then she worked as a Research Scientist in OMIX research and diagnostics lab, Bangalore for one year.

Her area of research is synthetic organic chemistry. Her research interests are peptides and carbohydrate chemistry, supramolecular chemistry and transition metal catalysed radical chemistryand their applications in medicines.

  • Surface modification of polystyrene dishes using plasma techniques
  • Coupling of oligonucleotides to in-house synthesized photo linker activated polystyrene surfaces
  • Quantification of end groups in oligonucleotides on solid surfaces
  • Synthesis of water-soluble Protein-Coated Micro-Crystals (PCMC)
  • Design and synthesis of modified DNA bases for the probe synthesis.
