“Meet the Legend” program was conducted on December 28, 2019, at Amrita School of Pharmacy. The Guest of Honour was Prof. Madhu (Assistant Professor, Department of English, St. Peter’s College, Kolenchery). Education, which gives us the power to define ourselves, was the topic he chose to discuss. Why do we need education? What is the purpose of education? Is it really necessary? These are the questions he put forward for open discussion. He explained that the education system was broadly classified into Western and Eastern systems. He said that Western education is a progression through philosophy, religion and research, whereas the eastern education system is an incorporation of all of them into one and is based on cultural tradition and values. He also talked about the importance of humanitarian leaders like Mata Amritanandamayi Devi. The attendees found the session to be very valuable and thought provoking.
